Where did you develop your passion for music?
Music has been a part of my life since day one. Growing up my father was always blasting music throughout the house. He would play everything from The Doors & Led Zeppelin to Cerrone & Poussez; he also had his music from growing up in Mexico and then his love for dance music and disco. My mom would always be playing disco and The Beatles whenever we drove somewhere so naturally I always had a passion and love for music. I got my first taste of house music from going through my brother’s music on my computer in the basement. But I really got to give credit to people like Matt Guido, Ivan Caraballo & Pauly Raffaele for showing me the behind the scenes and art of Dj’ing. Props to them all
Tell us about shakarone ENT
Shakarone came from Terry Nova and I. We were both in the city at the time living just cross-town from each other and would just have jam sessions all day at his apt on 96th street. It came pretty naturally to link up and throw some parties for our friends to just come out and dance. The name came from an old song and to us it represented just being funny or stupid and kind of flowed.
What life lessons have you learned thru music?
The number one life lesson I’ve learned through music is HAVE SOME F*CKING FUN
If you had to choose a quote or a line to describe what motivates you day to day, what would it be?
Acte De Foi.. It means Leap of Faith. Just live life without worry or doubt and do what you love.
If you had a time machine where would you go and why?
If I had a time machine I would go back to the 70′s and party with my pops
Do you produce your own music or plan on doing so aside from playing it?
I’ve made a few edits here and there and messed around with production. Nothing official yet but its a learning process and I’ve still got a lifetime ahead of me. We’ll hopefully be seeing more in the near future.
What do you feel like you brought to the table as an up and coming Dj in NYC?
I don’t really know to be honest with you. My goal is to just have fun wherever I go meet cool people and play some music in hopes you all enjoy it.
What set up/programs are you currently using?
Currently running Ableton. My favorite mixer is the DJM800 and that’s pretty much it for the most part.
What was your main inspiration for your sound?
Ahh dude there are too many inspirations to even try and name one. Im going to go with what first pops into my head though and that’s my father. He was always into groovy, bouncy and funky music. This translates through my music and me. Its funny cause we are both Pisces born 2 days apart. Weird
Entertainment is not killing music; it’s the music killing entertainment, your opinion on the statement?
Touchy one I sometimes bite my tongue for speaking to freely on this topic. BUT… what’s killing music AND entertainment is the lack of LOVE and UNITY. It seems people have loss site of the fact that this is supposed to be a PARTY I know business is a very important side of things and also a little friendly competition is natural. But we all just need to step back to the way it was and should be and appreciate everything and just HAVE A GOOD TIME ummm was that even relevant to your question A little too much of the greenery.
Where do you see your career in 5 years?
I hope I am still doing parties and getting to share the music that makes me happy. That’s really my main goal in this, to spread the fun. Of course I hope this is all i am doing and making music, but even if I am working a normal job you can be sure I’ll still be spinning.
What are your favorite things about being a Dj and being and artist?
My favorite thing in life is creating something to call art. Dj’ing and skating are my two loves in life. Having this escape from all my troubles and stress is what I love most about my life. I can honestly say if it weren’t for music and skating my life would be in a much different place, not a better one.
Favorite places to eat in NYC?
Ahhhh your putting me on the spot If we saying Manhattan i’d have to say Mustangs for their margaritas 2 of those things and your stumbling down the block lol. Or this dope Tapas spot I just recently found called Xicala. Nothing but great wine and amazing food if I had more money I’d eat out every night lol
Name 2 fun facts that most people would never guess about you?
I rollerblade when I am not working or doing music and I like to scream obscene things at people as I drive past them in the street.

Congratulations Butch, you have said everything right, music is a manifestation of the soul and it most be appreciated in all its different forms. My mother used to tell me that music tames “the animal” that we have within ourselves.
once again congratulations and never let yourself do what you don’t want to do.
