Who is Ira Chernova?
I’ve struggled with such questions before, my only answer always stays the same, Ira Chernova, is just Ira Chernova, nothing more or nothing less.
How did photography and modeling come into your life?
4 years ago I had nothing to do with my life. That’s when I saw a old film camera and decided to give it a shot.
What are your biggest influences and inspirations?
It could be anything, seriously… I have no explanation for the art at all, I believe it just lives its own life in our minds.
What goals do you set for yourself as a photographer?
To keep improving at what I do. To turn photography into regular work. More than anything I love living in a photo world 24\7. But in such case it should bring enough money. Sad thing but that’s the world we live in.
Now you model as well but I heard you say in a previous interview that you prefer to be behind the camera, why?
I still do not associate myself with the model. I believe it’s just the small thing which had started from self portraits. Easy genre to do when you have some inspiration without anybody except yourself nearby.
What is your favorite part about living the life you live?
All together. That’s why I love my life. I mean if it wasn’t -all together- thing I couldn’t say I like how everything goes.
“You are a product of your environment ’’ Being born in Russia what influences has it had on you as an artist and a person?
Cannot see any. I mean considering all rumors or whatever about USSR I’m not sure any of them affected my life. I was born and raised in Moscow; it’s always easier if you’re from the capital. But maybe I’m just not agreeing with that part about the environment. Or I just have no idea what else to answer…
Do you see a reflection of your personality in the photos you take?
It’s better to ask people who are following my work. I spend too much time with all these pictures to try to analyze them.
What image of your self do you try and document in the photos that you model in?
Depends on the mood. Sort of emotions I would like to capture at the moment.
What are some of your most favorite places that you have traveled to?
Amsterdam is always in my heart. I lived there for a while and that city is the only place I can call my home. As for the paces I’ve travelled to Porto, Dublin and Stockholm.
If you had the chance to work with anyone in any line of work who would it be and why?
Paolo Roversi. He was the first photographer who really inspired me back in the days, genius of photography in my point of view.
Do you have any projects future or present that you want the readers to be on the lookout for?
Special projects – no. Just feel the real need in new faces. Especially men’s faces to add to my portfolio. So nothing well planned just want to manage new shootings as soon as I’m out of Moscow.
Last but not least your tattoos, they are beautiful and are hard to miss and are certainly hard not to ask about, Is there a story behind each tattoo or you just get a new one when you see one you like?

Do not like calling anything my favorite but I do listen way too much of Metallica during last year.

I’ll just call 3 songs from the random mode: Tricky “Hollow”, Rob Zombie “(go to) California”, the Prodigy “Invaders must die”
Favorite places to eat or that you have eaten at?
“Wok to walk” (fast food place in Amsterdam)
If you had a time machine where would you go?
I like living in the present, not thinking about past\future even in such case.
Describe a perfect date?
With a man I would adore. That’s enough.
Name two things about yourself that most people don’t know or would never guess about you?
I’m really shy and I still do not know how to react when strangers say bullshit about tattoos in my face
